About St. Jerome's Catholic Church Acerca de la iglesia católica de San Jerónimo

In 1911 a little frame church was erected on lots 23 and 24 of the original Jerome townsite. The first alter was home-made and the pews were rude benches. The church continued to grow over the years and in 1922 became an official parish. Father B. J. Carey was the first pastor. Renovations and new building took place over the years until a completely new church was erected and dedicated on Oct 7, 1951. Over the sacristy was a bell tower in which hung a 710 pound bell named "William". Mr. L. W. Greving gave this bell. The bell is decorated with the inscription "Mane Meridie et Vespere Narablo et Annuntiabo Laudem Tuam" and a crucifix over which are the words, "Sit Nomen Domini Benedictum". Most recently St. Jerome's was rebuilt into the the beautiful church which stands today.
